Heart of Worship (pt. 4)
Hello, again, y'all! So in today's video Paul Baloche spoke about the priestly role, pastoral role, and prophetic role of being a worship pastor. He spoke a lot about engaging the congregation and bringing in different Bible verses to help facilitate and encourage the congregation as they go into a time of worship. He talked about viewing the sanctuary as a big living room. In saying that, he meant that you should be able to be as comfortable on stage as you are in your living room at home. Two other things that majorly stuck out to me was that he spoke of a vertical conversation as well as a horizontal conversation; and that he said "They (the congregation) don't care how much you know, unless they know how much you care".
The part about a vertical conversation stuck out because I went on a missions trip to Northern Ireland in my freshman year and the leader there told us that, that was key when we were talking to those kids. And it is 100% true. No matter how hard we (Christians) try to guide people or give comfort, if we aren't including God in those conversations they will be fruitless. The quote that I mentioned in the first paragraph really stood out. It caught my attention so much so to where I had to pause and write it down. "They don't care how much you know, unless they know how much you care". I'm going to type that again. "They do not care how much you know, unless they know how much you care". That is SO so relevant and convicting when in a pastoral role. Doesn't matter if you have the tile of Pastor or not, if you go up on stage to worship, give announcements, to preach, or anything else. If you are on stage you are automatically more visible to the church. People watch you more and notice when you slip up more when you step on that stage. And for those of us who do step up onto that pulpit, we have to remember that we need to glorify God and love on the congregation. I often find myself talking to the same groups of people in the church, which isn't good because I am not showing God's love to all the people I could be. Anywho, I've now gotten off into a small rant. I hope you understand my point through all the words ;)
