Creating a worship set
Yo yo, y'all. Todays video was about creating a worship set list. Paul Baloche talked about his process. He always asks his Pastor what the theme is for that Sunday and asks for some key verses that will be in the sermon. These act as his jumping off point. From there, he reads through the verses and whenever a word or phrase reminds him of a song, he writes that song down. Through this he creates a list of about 15 songs. From there, he narrows down the list so the songs fit into the time frame he has. Then, he looks at the range of the songs to make sure that the majority of the congregation can hit the notes. If it sounds too low or too high, he'll change the key to fit the "congregation key" as he calls it.
The one major thing that jumped out at me was how long his list of songs is. I thought he'd say 10 songs. But then he said 15. I was shocked at first, but then thought about how he goes that extra mile to come up with those next five songs. Who knows, that eleventh song you come up with could be the one to break the chains in people...but if you stop at 10, you wouldn't have that song. No matter what songs and no matter how many songs, the Lord will show up and he will break chains. But, we as worship leaders need to do as much as we can so that the Lord has the best platform we can give Him.
