Dynamics
This video talked about dynamics. Paul Baloche and his team gave many helpful tips in order to make songs the best that they can be. One of these being "think in sections". Thinking in sections is thinking about how each instrument can help the song in unique ways. Baloche compared it to a piano, having all the different elements work in harmony. Another tip was to "think like an arranger". This means to not think about yourself as an instrumentalist; but think about yourself as the person who needs to strategize for the instrumentalists. Kind of like being a football quarterback. As the QB, your job is to not only play, but to lead and call the plays as well.
This video was very informational and useful. I feel like (in my experiences) worship leaders just say to the instrumentalists "do what you want to do as long as it works" which is good sometimes, but not all the time. I have been toying with the idea of becoming a worship pastor in the future and this video gave me many good things to remember and think about...even if I don't become a worship pastor, I see myself always being on a worship team and these tips and tricks can help in that position as well.
You would be an awesome worship pastor! Thank you. ~ Mr. Coates
