From Theory to Reality

Here we are. At the end of the series by Paul Baloche on songwriting. Let's hop into what he said. He talked about making a "simple demo". He says to try it out with your worship band to play around with it and see what works and what doesn't. He says not to try out every idea with your worship team, he only does two or three. He says be objective and humble in your delegation. Meaning that if you know there's someone who has a better or fresher voice than you, ask them to sing it live or on the demo. (note from myself: the demo and song are about God, not you. don't make the mistake of taking a part that you know is better for someone else. not only will it effect the song but how the song and congregation glorifies Jesus. say it with me here: "this song is not about me"..one more time. say it again: "this song is not about me". okay good job. moving on). Once you've done the simple demo, ask if the song is finished or if you need to re-write. Re-writing is okay! He says to ask yourself what feels good about the song and what sounds funny. He even brings in friends to get their take on it as well.

I absolutely loved this video. I loved that he made sure to say (in kinder words) to not be selfish when recording the song. I think that is something so important in todays society where we have so many worship "leaders" on stage just to showcase themselves. That message is one that I hope gets spread to every Church in every country, because it is so true.
